« Pour la première fois depuis bien longtemps, j’ai pensé à maman. »

Le texte d’Albert Camus, tiré des dernières pages de L’Etranger et des notes du manuscrit Le premier homme, chevauche tout au long du livre celui d’Annabel C. Schenck. Ses sensations et souvenirs s’entrelacent et divaguent entre l’Inde où elle vit et travaille, le Midi de la France et Alger, capitale de ce qui fut “L’Algérie française” où Albert Camus et le père de l’auteur ont grandi.
Le texte de Camus croise celui de l’auteur écrit en italique. L’auteur a volontairement choisi de ne pas traduire en hindi des passages redigés en français.

L’Etranger (ère) a été conçu à New Delhi en hiver 2014. Les gravures ont vu le jour dans l’atelier de Raymond Pereira à Goa lors d’un séjour en résidence à Ray’s Atelier. Le livre a été assemblé dans l’Atelier du 42 en février 2015.

The text of Albert Camus, taken from the last pages of The Outsider and notes from the manuscript The First Man overlaps throughout the book that of Annabel C. Schenck. Her sensations and memories intertwine and wander between India where she lives and works, the South of France and Algiers, capital of French Algeria during the colonisation period, where Albert Camus and the author’s father grew up.
The text of Camus crosses the one of the author written in italic. The author has deliberately chosen not to translate in Hindi some passages written in French.

L’Etranger (ère) was designed in New Delhi in Winter 2014. The engravings saw the light in Raymond Pereira’s workshop during a stay in Ray’s Atelier, an artistic commune in Goa. The book was assembled in the Atelier du 42 in February 2015.
